Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics

HEY CLASS :)

I would like to invite yall to experience the world of comics in three different mediums through plain text, an actual comic, and a live action video. Heroes, as in the NBC show, has a great interactive website which includes the "Going Postal" narrative. This isn't necessary, but as a lover of Heroes and comics, it seems like a great way to apply the material and have a bit of fun!

First I would like you all to read the Going Postal wiki; what all can you derive from simply reading the article? Think critically in terms of concepts covered in McCloud's article such as time, mood, motion, etc.

Second, read the graphic novel for Going Postal; what all can you derive from this now? Continue to think in terms of concepts covered in McCloud's article. How did this differ from the just reading the wiki? (If you so chose, you can also check out the animated adventure, which is just the comic created into a moving set of pictures with sound effects)

Lastly, watch the live action interpretation. What all can you derive from this? Think critically in terms of concepts covered in McCloud's article such as time, mood, motion, etc. Did it live up to your expectations? Do McCloud's conclusions parallel the way the video was portrayed?

I just wanted to give some expansion material and maybe something for yall to ponder over via blog. Just a thought :)

*I'll post this on my blog as well!
